What is Cross Training Fitness?
Our Fitness Director, Shannon Lukeman-Hiromasa, got certified as a CrossFit coach way back before it was cool to do CrossFit, in fact before most people ever heard of it. It’s a great program, but needed a bit of tweaking to insure we were helping all of our clients meet their goals quickly and also safely and be sure that our fitness training is perfectly aligned with our self defense training methodology.
The result of that is Cross Kick, Fitness with a Kick! At Colorado Krav Maga, our CrossKick program has different classes such as Heavy Bag, Cage Fit, etc….and we even retained the format of doing a WOD (workout of the day) in our Cross Training class. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.
The program is designed for universal scale-ability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.
The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.
